My graduate and undergraduate work were done at the University of North Dakota with a major in Industrial Technology and a minor in Management. My first professional employment was as a Logistics Engineer with General Dynamics in San Diego, California where I wrote manuals on maintaining the Tomahawk cruise missile. Later, I developed the repair analysis for the cruise-missile system in the European theater. Next, I moved to “working” at something I loved, woodworking. I started as the how-to editor with Better Homes and Gardens WOOD magazine, and rose in the ranks to Managing Editor over my 27-year career. I semi-retired in 2012, but continue to consult, create print and digital content, and test tools for woodworking magazines and national mail-order catalogs.
